Eugene Monroe
One of 16 siblings, Eugene grew up in Plainfield and South Plainfield, NJ. He made his way by faith and being steadily focused on achieving in both the classroom and athletics. He worked hard and was awarded a scholarship to the University of Virginia where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. The Jacksonville Jaguars selected Eugene with the eighth pick of the first round in the 2009 NFL Draft. He now plays with the Baltimore Ravens.
Eugene has a passion for youth. He strives to learn how he can extend himself to improve the quality of life and positively impact the future for children. His involvement with children who have autism sparked at a young age as he learned from his mother, Stephanie Green, who had been a caretaker for children with autism for a number of years. Memories and the possibility of improving the lives of the children, their families, and the issues they deal with on a daily basis are the fuel for Eugene’s passion.
